Portal

Updated: Dec 7, 2020

Since moving to Sweden, I feel like I'm on track to meeting all the Americans living in Stockholm :) Once a month a few of us get together to try different restaurants and talk about our experiences in the city. For August we chose Portal, on St. Eriksplan for dinner. I've passed this restaurant quite a lot and have always been taken by the beautiful arch and view! The only thing I really knew about the restaurant is that they have a great wine menu and from what I'd heard, good food as well.

Bread is always a great indication of the quality of food to come and these rolls were delicious!

Seared cusk with trout roe, pickled onion, broccoli, horseradish and white wine sauce.

Almost all of us ordered the fish - so yummy, especially the pickled onion filled with different sauces and roe.

Fried mushrooms with parsley and garlic, toasted brioche, cheese and a browned butter emulsion.

Alexis was the only one not to take the fish and she ordered the dinner portion of the mushroom toast starter. I tried a bite and it was so indulgent and delicious. I loved that the toast was topped with caramelized onions. I often make my own version at home for brunch on the weekend with whatever mushrooms are in season - will definitely add onions next time!

My wine with dinner - delicious!

Have you been to Portal? How was your experience?
