Bitza

Updated: Mar 22, 2021

I've been trying to explore Södermalm a bit more and luckily have a friend willing to go with me! Dani has lived in Stockholm a lot longer than me and has been taking me to her favorite places, like Bitza.

Bitza is a pizzeria with a Levantine influence. If you're not familiar, Levantine cuisine is most famous for meze dishes, like hummus, tabbouleh, and baba ghanoush. So think a Middle Eastern / Mediterranean style pizzeria. I let Dani choose everything and we went with the Sour Cream and Onion pizza with two sides: zahra and muhammra. The cherry on top is how affordable the menu is - perfect for a casual dinner or for drinks with snacks. Plus Bitza is located on the waterfront with cozy seating both outdoors and indoors. Can't wait to go back - just be sure to make a reservation because it is always busy!

If you're headed to Bitza, just take the Red Line to Hornstull and it's just a few minutes walk by foot!

Pro tip from Dani: Dip the pizza crust into the spreads!

Our table for two!

Zahra: a spread made of roasted cauliflower, tahini, lemon, garlic, chili, labneh, sesame and ras el hanout

Muhammra: a spread made of grilled peppers, roasted walnuts, pomegranate syrup, and garlic

This was my favorite and a must when you go!

Sour Cream & Onions Pizza: pizza topped with Oatly creme fraiche, potatoes, herb oil, pickled red onion, sumac, and parsley

I was a bit skeptical when Dani suggested this one, but it was soooo delicious! The pickled onion was perfect on top to add a bit of brightness to the flavor.

So excited and not sure where to begin!

So delicious I even ordered an extra pizza to-go so Koen could try!

Have you been to Bitza? What's your favorite items on the menu?
